Bloggin’ in Bulgaria: Day 8
We decided to explore the City of Sofia a bit today. It was a beautiful day, warm and sunny, and perfect for a walking tour.
C.I.E. Staff held their annual staff Christmas Party today, and Darrell and I were invited to attend. There was a huge spread of food, and Dimitar commented that the meal was similar to “Potlucks at Career Trek”. Like staff at Career Trek, C.I.E. does a “Secret Santa” gift exchange. Darrell and I were honoured to be included into this exchange, and were unexpectedly gifted with a necklace and traditional Bulgarian figure. There was much laughter and good conversation shared this afternoon and a great time was had by all. As I sat with the rest of the staff at the lunch table in the kitchen, I felt like I was sharing a meal with my family. What a terrific group of people – we are truly honoured to have met each and every one of them.
Today was a wonderful time to re-engage with the staff and discuss next steps in moving the partnership forward. Staff exchanges, educational webinars, intellectual exchanges and exploring other avenues of working together were discussed. We hope to talk about this in more detail tomorrow.
