2025 Annual General Meeting & Report To Community

Career Trek Celebrates a Successful 2025 AGM & Report to Community

On Tuesday, November 25, 2025, Career Trek hosted its Annual General Meeting and Report to Community at RB Russell Vocational High School.

This annual gathering is more than a meeting, report and dinner event. It’s a celebration of the numerous young Manitobans whose futures and career decisions have been strengthened through experiential career learning and mentorship.

The annual event opened with remarks from Board Chair Dawna Atamanchuk and a financial audit affirming the organization’s strong foundation and growth. Elder Kathie Whitford offered an opening prayer and blessing, followed by land acknowledgements, underscoring Career Trek’s commitment to respecting Indigenous communities. The evening concluded with inspiring remarks and a dynamic Taiko drumming performance by Fubuki Daiko, showcasing Japanese culture and tradition.

CEO Kerry Swanson closed the evening with an overview of this year’s Report to the Community, celebrating the achievements of the past year and acknowledging the youth, families, partners, and supporters who make Career Trek’s work possible, as well as outlining our strategic direction for the coming years.

Swanson reported:
“Career Trek’s quality life lessons included 67 distinct career lessons, leaving a lasting impression on over 1,000 youth from 44 schools. These lessons align with the provincial government’s goal to boost the retention of young Manitobans and to align workforce development with labor market needs and economic opportunities, ultimately growing the economy with good jobs and a balanced budget.”

Swanson also emphasized Career Trek’s strategic direction moving forward, which includes working towards providing programming for Manitoba youth in grades 7 and 8:
“Currently, Career Trek offers programming for students in grades 5 and 6, as well as for high school students. We do not yet have any career lessons for grades 7 and 8. We look forward to developing programming for these grades to ensure continuity and support for students from grade 5 through grade 12.”

According to Swanson, this initiative will challenge the Career Trek team to be creative and innovative in developing inspiring career lessons that motivate students about their future.

As we look ahead to celebrating 30 years in 2026, Career Trek remains committed to building brighter futures for young Manitobans through career exploration, mentorship, and hands-on learning.
