Back in 2016, a 12 year old student from John M. King School stepped onto a bus that would impact his life. Through Career Trek’s Wonder of Work Program, he spent his Saturdays exploring new environments visiting the University of Manitoba, the University of Winnipeg, and Red River College, with each stop offering a glimpse into a different career path and a world of possibility.
Those experiences sparked something lasting.
“Being able to explore and discover different careers led me to discover my love for the vocational skilled trade industry,” he recalls. “My passion for leadership and drive for the skilled trades from the Wonder of Work Program led me to Technical Vocational High School, where I began my journey as a photographer.”
His time volunteering in Career Trek’s Junior Staff Mentorship Program deepened that spark, teaching him teamwork, confidence, and leadership. With encouragement from mentors like Alex Klassen, he learned to push himself further and dream bigger.
Fast forward to today, Danny is now a thriving photographer and business owner, proudly entering his fifth year of entrepreneurship. He credits much of his success to the foundation built at Career Trek:
“The Wonder of Work and Junior Mentorship Programs allowed me to learn about different industries and trades while also helping me develop leadership skills to be where I am today.”
Danny’s story is a powerful reminder of how early career exploration can shape a lifetime of purpose and possibility.
