Nathaniel Calanza

Ayomide Shittu

We’d like to introduce you to Nathaniel Calanza, a Career Trek Alumni, Father, Registered Nurse.

Nathaniel joined Career Trek as a Grade 8 student in 1998, exchanging his Saturdays for an opportunity to explore career paths and meet positive role models.

The program introduced him to new friends from diverse backgrounds and helped him understand how education choices shape the future.

Nathaniel’s story is a powerful testament to the ripple effect of investing in youth. From returning to the program as a youth volunteer, to meeting two pivotal mentors who inspired him to grow physically, mentally, and academically.

One of his mentors, Bowen, motivated him to pursue self-improvement through fitness, reading, and discovering his strengths. The other, Darrell Cole, the program’s founder, helped him build confidence and encouraged him to reach his full potential.

After graduating high school, Nathaniel began working with Career Trek as a group leader and later as a program manager while attending university. The experience allowed him to inspire and mentor youth, giving back to the program that had shaped his path. Nathaniel’s journey is a full-circle moment of growth and giving back.

Today, Nathaniel is a Registered Nurse, a husband, and a father of two. His story highlights the lasting impact of mentorship, opportunity, and belief that when you invest in children, they will achieve great things! Join us in creating more success stories like Nathaniel’s.
